Meeting Minutes - December 2024

1. Meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Chairman Duane Johnson.  Others present were Supervisors Steve Dahlstrom and Gary Crosby, Treasurer Donna Meeds, and David Coon, Clerk. Six town residents also attended.*

​2. All parties present were notified to silence cell phones and other devices.
3. Public Comment: None.
4. The Minutes of the November 14, 2024, meeting were approved on a Crosby/Dahlstrom motion.
5. The Treasurers’ report was read and reviewed. It was discussed that the loans should be added to the report.
6. The Financial review was conducted. It was discussed that about $60,000 in funds should be applied to operations loan account. Approval to do so was passed on a Crosby/Dahlstrom motion.
7. The search for a new Town Assessor was discussed. The current assessor is willing to do one more year on a short-term contract. The contract was approved on a Dahlstrom/Crosby motion.
8. The 2025 election calendar was briefly reviewed. The Clerk will monitor whether a primary will be needed for Spooner School District.
9. Road Maintenance report by Mark Melton: The new blacktop on Sand Road is very slippery in winter weather conditions. Mowing is probably done for the season. There has not been much snow plowing yet.
10. Other Business: It was discussed that the Town owns a 40-acre parcel. There are also 1.82 acres for Threshold Road owned by the Town. It was noted that these are tax exempt, so there is no tax cost to holding these properties.
11. Monthly correspondence reviewed.
12. Approval of monthly expenditures. Dahlstrom/Crosby motion to approve checks #10631 to #10642 in the amount of $37,377.10. Approved on Dahlstrom/Crosby motion.
13. January 16, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. was set for the next Board Meeting and Town Caucus. 
14. Closed Session: On a Crosby/Dahlstrom motion, it was approved to suspend the regular meeting to convene a closed session in accordance with WI Statute 19.85 (1)(C) Considering employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility.
15. Meeting was reconvened after closed session. On a Crosby/Dahlstrom motion, it was approved to raise the hourly rate for the Road Supervisor to $26.50 per hour beginning 1/1/2025.
16. The Meeting was adjourned at 7:48 p.m. on a Dahlstrom/Crosby motion.
