Town Board Meeting Minutes

1. Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman Duane Johnson. Others present were Supervisor Jeff Stellrecht and Gary Crosby, Treasurer Donna Meeds, and David Coon, Clerk. Three town residents were also in attendance.

2. All parties present were notified to silence cell phones and other devices.
3. Public Comment: Town picnic was discussed. There is a date conflict on 8/15 so need to move to 8/22 instead. New flag on the pole with noted by Jeff S.
4. The Minutes of the June 9, 2026, town board meeting were approved on a Stellrecht/Crosby motion.
5. The Treasurer’s report was read and reviewed.
6. The Financial review was conducted. Some upcoming bills for road projects were discussed.
7. The WEC Security Subgrant, Town computer, and Election Security and Emergency Plan were discussed.
8. The status of the second ARIP Grant Round was discussed.
9. The insurance settlement for the new tractor hood from Rural Mutual was discussed. A motion passed on a Crosby/Stellrecht motion to approve the settlement. The new hood will be obtained by the Road Supervisor
10. The process for switching from an elected to appointed Clerk was discussed, including the pros and cons of an elected versus appointed Clerk and the process. The matter may be put on the agenda for August or September.
11. Road Maintenance Report: Doing mowing. We will need new front tractor tires. Will go with new tires that are more expensive but will last longer and will buy the new tires, but have them hold them. We will use the old tires until they fail or until winter. They will not last much longer. Doing some graveling and moving gravel. Some roads have rock showing through. Discussed issue of size of shoulders on future projects.
12. Clerk’s Report was given. Pre-Buy was discussed. Mosaic Internet letter discussed/signed.
13. Monthly correspondence reviewed.
14. Approval of monthly expenditures. Checks #10876 through #10882 in the amount of $18,931.08 were approved on a Crosby/Stellrecht motion.
15. The next meeting was set for August 18, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.
16. The Meeting was adjourned at 8:05 p.m. on a Stellrecht/Crosby motion.
