Town of Dewey February 13, 2024 Town Board Meeting Minutes
2. All parties present were notified to silence cellphones and other devices.
3. Public Comment: Diane Hulleman asked about having a mat inside the Town Hall door, especially during elections, to prevent slipping. There had been a mat, but it was reportedly “illegal” in some fashion. The Clerk will check into this issue. 4. The Minutes of the January 9, 2024, meeting were approved on a Dahlstrom/Crosby motion. 5. The Treasurers’ report was read and, on a Crosby/Dahlstrom motion, was approved. 6. The Financial review was conducted. There was discussion as to the timing of payments from the State. 7. Road Maintenance report by Mark Melton. Still no snow, so he has continued to be busy doing additional mowing, cutting and repair duties. 8. Discussion to adjust the LRIP funds to the Sand Road project. A Dahlstrom/Crosby motion was approved to adjust the LRIP fund on the Sand Road project. 9. Other Business: The USDA Beaver removal and control project was discussed. A proposed contract for computer maintenance was also discussed, but not accepted. An upcoming Agricultural Road Grant was discussed. Chair Johnson and the Clerk will be looking into preparing a proposal for that grant. 10. Monthly correspondence reviewed. 11. Approval of monthly expenditures. Dahlstrom/Crosby motion to approve checks #10468 to #10493 in the amount of $430,404.70. Motion carried. 12. The scheduling of the Annual Meeting was discussed as well as what issues, such as zoning, might be raised for review at the meeting. It was noted that the original zoning was initially adopted over 50 years ago. There was further discussion about setting the meeting for April 4th at 7:00 p.m. The Clerk will check the timing and appropriate date for the meeting. 13. March 5, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. was set for the next Board Meeting. 14. A Crosby/Dahlstrom motion was approved to suspend the open meeting to convene a closed session in accordance with Wisconsin Statute § 19.85, considering employment, promotion, compensation, and performance evaluation data. 15. Closed session having been adjourned and open session reconvened, a Dahlstrom/Crosby motion to increase the road supervisor’s pay to $25 per hour, retroactive to January 1, 2024, was approved. 16.
