Town Board Meeting Minutes

1. Meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Chairman Duane Johnson.  Others present were Supervisors Steve Dahlstrom and Gary Crosby, Treasurer Donna Meeds, and David Coon, Clerk. Also, present were 4 town residents.*

1. All parties present were notified to silence cell phones and other devices.
2. Public Comment: A question was asked regarding the paving of Sand Road and cutting of some pine trees.
3. The Minutes of the February 13, 2024, meeting were approved on a Crosby/Dahlstrom motion.
4. The Treasurers’ report was read and, on a Dahlstrom/Crosby motion, was approved.
5. The Financial review was conducted.
6. Richard Lawrence, Jr., discussed his proposal to rezone the area around his former turkey barns from A-1 to A-2. He stated he has no intent to build on the property, only to obtain a CUP to rent storage space for boats in the barns. A Crosby/Dahlstrom motion passed to recommend the zoning change and CUP to the Burnett County Zoning Committee.
7. Addressed a request by Nancy Hove to have a “dead end” sign placed on Best Ln. The road supervisor was directed to work on and install this. The clerk will report back to Nancy Hove.
8. After brief discussion, a Crosby/Dahlstrom motion passed to advise the County Zoning Commission that the Town has no issues with the approval of Cody Knoop’s request for a CUP for a home business.
9. A report was made by the clerk regarding issues with having a mat inside the front door during election days and the rules of the Election Commission. The board felt it was best to have a mat in place.
10. Road Maintenance report by Mark Melton. The frost is starting to come out of the gravel roads. He is continuing to cut brush. Discussion was had regarding the Town’s LRIP funding selection and waiting to make any ARIP request, instead, looking for a grant that is a better fit for smaller projects. The Road Supervisor will look into the missing sign at Hwy. H and Oak Rd.
11. Other Business: None.
12. Monthly correspondence reviewed.
13. Approval of monthly expenditures. Dahlstrom/Crosby motion to approve checks #10494 to #10502 in the amount of $5,485.51. Motion carried.
14. The date of the Town’s Annual Meeting was confirmed for April 16, 2024 at 7:00 pm at the Town Hall.
15. The date for the Open Book was set for May 21, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Town Hall. June 4, 2024 at 6:00 pm at the Town Hall was set for the Board of Review Meeting.
16. April 4, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. was set for the next Board Meeting.
17. Meeting was adjourned at 7:50 pm.
